AND NOW I'm also Musical Director (Conductor) of the Middleton Musical Society (Choral), which has been making music since the middle of the 18th century. At our first full concert evening on May 21st 2011, the programme included Fauré's Requiem and my own St. Denys Mass (1977) now extended with Soprano and Baritone soloists to make a Mass for Peace.
*At a concert we have been asked to give on Saturday, June 2nd 2012 by the Middleton Civic Association as part of the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations and celebrations marking the 600th Anniversary of St. Leonard's Parish Church, Middleton, we shall give the première of a work I've written for the occasion: A Mass - St. Leonard's Prayer. This is a setting for Baritone Soloist and 8-part choir with Organ of the Latin text of the Ordinary of the Mass (no Credo) interspersed with quotations from the Psalms.
Here I am at the organ of the church of St.-Christophe in Tourcoing, Rochdale's twin town in NE France.
René Courdent, the titulaire organist there and at the cathedral in Lille, makes me very welcome whenever I'm able to go there.
